If meters are damaged by tampering or other action of the user, or by hot water from user’s line, all costs of the repair or replacement of the meter shall be charged to the owner. If the meter is found to have been tampered with by a user, resulting in undermeasurement of water consumption, the department of public works shall cut off water service to the premises without notice, and service shall not be restored until assurance, satisfactory to the city, has been given by the user against further tampering. Anyone tampering with a meter will be charged a fee in accordance with the fee schedule in effect at the time of tampering. (Ord. 2412 § 3 (Exh. C), 2023; Ord. 1634 § 1, 1996).
