Any group insurance premium payable by an employee of the city as provided in this chapter shall be withheld as a deduction from the employee’s payroll by the city clerk, and the clerk is directed to draw and issue a proper warrant or warrants directly to and in favor of the insurance company providing such group insurance coverage from time to time for the total amount authorized to be deducted from the payroll of the employees.
