The person appointed to fill the office of city manager, city clerk or city treasurer shall qualify before entering upon the duties of such office by furnishing a fidelity bond at the expense of the city in a sum to be set by the city council, and upon filing an oath to support the government of the United States of America, the state, the city, and the faithful performance of duties.
