A. When properly issued and displayed, a residential parking permit (permit) shall exempt a specified vehicle, while parked within a specific limited parking zone for which the permit was issued, from citation for parking longer than the posted time limit for that particular zone and no other; provided, that the permit shall not authorize parking for more than seven consecutive hours in any one location. The permit shall not guarantee a parking space, nor shall it exempt the vehicle or operator from observing zones where parking is prohibited at all times, including but not limited to no parking zones, load zones, and fire lanes.

B. The definitions set forth in this section apply throughout this chapter unless the context clearly requires otherwise.

“Long-term visitor parking” means those visitors who plan to park for more than two hours.

“Permit” means the small numbered placard which must be displayed prominently by hanging the permit from the rear view mirror of the vehicle, as described on the residential/visitor parking permit application.

“Resident” means any person, firm or corporation that lives or resides at, or pays property taxes for, real estate or a structure approved for residential or commercial occupancy, and who is the owner of such structure or a tenant therein, or who can demonstrate another indication of exclusive right of occupancy.

“Short-term visitor parking” means those visitors who plan to park for two hours or less.

“Visitor” means someone with a short-term social stay at the residence where the visitor’s car will be parked.

“Visitor parking permit” means any device issued by the city of Bothell that permits the approved user to park in restricted areas on residential streets. It is issued to a resident to be used by a bona fide visiting guest of a resident (visitor) and must be obtained prior to the visitor’s vehicle parking in front of the residence they are visiting.
